On 14 Feb we had an adult male Anna's Hummingbird sipping syrup from one of our feeders. At first it was seen from the back and it was obviously large. The gorget did not poke out at the sides of the neck like a Costa's. When it flew from the feeder it turned towards us as it headed for a tree and the entire yard was lit with the beautiful pinkish-red throat and crown!
