Greater Scaup on Tinemalaha Reservoir

Sighting

On Sunday, March 13th, 2005, I saw one male Greater Scauo with numerous Lesser Scaups actively diving on the Reservoir. Compared overall size, head shape, and bill of the Greater Scaup with male Lesser Scaups side by side. Also on the reservoir were 5 Tundra Swans, several American Pelicans with breeding horn on bills, Killdeers, Least Sandpipers, a few American Avocets in breeding plumage with their buffy heads, a Greater Yellowlegs, Buffleheads, Ruddy Ducks, one male Red-breasted Merganser, a few Common Mergansers, one female Barrow's Goldeneye, a few Common Goldeneyes, Greenwinged Teal, Cinnamon Teal, American Wigeon, an Eared Grebe, many Double-creasted Cormorants, a few Canada Geese, and an adult Bald Eagle.
