Today, 16 Sept 2005, Furnace Creek Ranch had 2 female-type Vermilion Flycatchers and 2 American Crows (I wonder if the two I had there in mid-June summered). Savannah Sparrows, Lincoln's, and gambel's White-crowned Sparrows, have returned too. Stovepipe Wells had a Blackpoll Warbler at the puddle under the Tamarisk. It's head was buffy-yellow with a distinct dark eye-line and pale supercilium. It's breast was a similar buffy -yellow with faint dark streaks. Yellowish back with black streaks. The belly and undertail coverts were white. While trying to refind the Blackpoll, I saw a Prothonotary Warbler at a water faucet. The Proto actually flew toward me and landed on my head... no joke. I could see it's beak and head peering down over the bill of my hat. Panamint Springs had a Sooty (I think) Fox Sparrow in the Pig Pen.
