Birding Hotspots: Steward Lane

What's There:

A good place for raptors (check out the power line poles) and a variety of smaller birds that thrive in the large fields and the clumps of trees and shrubs. Access to a little used stretch of the Owens River.

Check eBird for the latest bird sighting information for Steward Lane!

Klondike Lake

Best Time:

Year round. Great place for wintering raptors (e.g., Ferruginous Hawks) and a good place to look for Swainson's Hawks in Spring. Good location to see large flocks of Mountain Bluebirds returning in Spring.

This good dirt road just South of Big Pine runs East off US 395 over to the Owens River.
